Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I see a chiropractor?

Most people come in because something hurts. But the ones who get the most out of chiropractic care are the ones who come in before it gets to that point. Chiropractic focuses on how your spine and joints move, how your nervous system functions, and how all of that affects the way you feel day to day. If you're dealing with pain, stiffness, headaches, or just a body that doesn't feel right, chiropractic is worth exploring.

How do I know if a chiropractor is right for me?

If you're dealing with back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint stiffness, or recurring tension that won't go away, chiropractic is likely a good fit. It's also a strong option if you want to be proactive about your health rather than waiting for something to break down. The best way to know for sure is to book a consultation, we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.

What conditions do chiropractors treat?

Back and neck pain are the most common reasons people come in, but chiropractic care covers a lot more than that. We treat headaches, sciatica, shoulder and hip tension, postural issues, sports injuries, pregnancy-related discomfort, and general stiffness from sitting too much. If it involves how your body moves, it's probably something we can help with.

What does the initial appointment look like?

Your first visit is mostly about understanding you. We'll go through your health history, talk about what's been bothering you, and do a full clinical assessment including posture, range of motion, and movement patterns. From there we put together a clear picture of what's going on and walk you through what treatment looks like. If it makes sense to start treatment that same day, we will.

How long does a chiropractic visit take?

Your first appointment is typically 45 to 60 minutes because of the assessment. Follow-up visits are usually 20 to 30 minutes. We keep things efficient, you're not sitting in a waiting room for an hour to be seen for five minutes.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Yes. Chiropractic is one of the most studied and regulated forms of manual therapy. Side effects, when they happen, are usually mild and short-lived, things like minor soreness after an adjustment, similar to how you might feel after a workout. We always assess before we treat, so nothing is done without understanding your history and what your body can handle.

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

Yes, and it can make a significant difference. As your body changes through pregnancy, your pelvis, spine, and hips take on a lot of stress. Chiropractic care during pregnancy helps manage that load, reduce pain, and support proper positioning. We use techniques that are specifically adapted for each trimester so you're always being treated safely.

Will I be adjusted on my first visit?

In most cases, yes. After your assessment, if treatment is appropriate, we'll get started right away. We don't believe in making you come back multiple times before doing anything. That said, if the assessment reveals something that needs more investigation first, we'll tell you that clearly and refer you accordingly.

Can chiropractic care help even if I’m not in pain?

Absolutely, and this is actually one of the best reasons to come in. Pain is a late signal, by the time something hurts, it's usually been building for a while. Regular chiropractic care helps maintain mobility, catch dysfunction early, and keep your body moving the way it should. Think of it like going to the gym or seeing a dentist, you don't wait until things fall apart.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you're dealing with. Acute issues like a recent injury often resolve in a few sessions. Chronic conditions or postural patterns that have been building for years take longer. After your assessment we'll give you a realistic treatment plan with clear goals so you know what to expect, we don't keep people coming in indefinitely without a reason.

Does chiropractic require insurance?

No, you don't need insurance to be seen. Most extended health plans in Canada do cover chiropractic care though, and we can provide receipts for direct submission. If you're unsure whether you're covered, check your benefits plan or contact your provider before booking.

Why are follow-up visits only 20 to 30 minutes?

Because by that point we already know you. The first visit is long because we're doing a full assessment and building your treatment plan from scratch. Follow-ups are focused, we know what we're working on, we get in, treat, and reassess. Shorter visits don't mean less care, they mean we're not wasting your time repeating things we already know.
